The major theme of Teaching for Understanding with Technology was that technology interventions should first target problems of practice, then identify technologies that could help to alleviate those problems. For our final assignment in the class we were tasked to identify a problem within our own practice that could benefit from a educational technology innovation.
The problem I chose to address was student anxiety toward participation in a public forum. Ultimately, I concluded that if a technology could provide anonymity while still allowing for thoughts to be shared, that this would be a desirable enhancement to the learning environment. I advocated use of student response systems (srs) in an innovation analysis report that can be viewed below.
